How lovely, love the color!!! Congrats - I got a kind of oblong one as well the other day.

The two on the left are Faverolle, the two on the right are Ancona, their FIRST eggs
The flash washed out the color. Egg on the left is light brown, next one is VERY light brown, Ancona's are white.
They are pretty small, hopefully as they get into the swing of things, it wont take two to equal one large.
But I am NOT complaining!


Faverolle egg on the left was laid 1 week ago. The rest between 5 & 6 days ago.
The whites and yolks are still more firm than "bought today" generic store bought eggs.
And those yolks are far from "store bought yellow".
Must be something to the theory that "fresh from home chickens" are better than "fresh from store chickens"

My daughter calls those "Daisy eggs"

Hoorayyy for eggs!! I just love making breakfast(and anything else requiring eggs) even more now that I have a few of my ladies laying. I now have 5 more who started to squat a few days ago. My only laying barred rock so far has decided that she will only lay her eggs on top of one of my rabbit hutches!! I out a milk crate up for her so we don't get any more accidents of her putting her butt too close to the edge & dropping the eggs! Two cracked eggs saved by the membrane!!
