Well, I think my fourth and last new hen started laying today! I have been reading on here about how long the average EE takes to commence, and waiting for signs like squatting, and reddening of wattles etc...without much progress on her part.

The other day, I saw little Ms. Late Bloomer mount her BFF...

so I have been mentally preparing myself for the possibility that "Ethyl" might in fact be "Fred."

This morning though there were four eggs, and the very pale tan one is the first of its color to appear. (It's still possible that this new egg in fact is one of Jaunita's, as it's been more than 24 hours since I collected and it is pretty close to her egg shade...so I guess I won't know for 100% sure for a few more days.)

If it is Ethyl's egg, well, I was hoping for blue from her...alas...but at least she be's a GIRL, whew!!

First three eggs from our Wyandottes (hatched beginning of May). It's 26 Degrees Fahrenheit outside ... I figured we would have to wait until Spring for our first eggs. Pretty proud of those Chickies.

Very exciting day for me. We brought home our chickens on November 26/2012 and today when I went out to give them there treat's, I had a very nice surprize waiting for me. Who would have ever thought that one day I would be getting so excited over an egg. Had to text my husband a picture of it right away and let all my friends know. I have been spoling them and to finally get a reward back from them, well it feel's pretty good :)

[Woohoo! I received my very first two eggs today. Not sure who laid them - doesn't matter though, I'm just thrilled to have gotten them! So excited - already uploaded the pix to Facebook and I never post pix on FB, lol :D now if I could figure out how to post the photo here I'd be all set...

Hi..

posting pics is pretty easy. When you reply, there is a symbol along the top of the reply box (just right of center on my screen) that looks like a tiny, colorful square (to the right of the arrows). Click that, "browse" to find the pic on your computer and them follow the final directions to pick the size and post.
