My dd's first two MFD eggs

did not appear to be fertilized (that's a good thing for Milly!) and they made the cutest little fried egg breakfast for my dd this morning...

(frying in sausage grease... yummy!)

I'm not sure if this is from one of my bantams, or from a RIR. It was the smallest scrambled egg I've ever had, but it sure was yummy!

This will be my last "first egg" post... at least for this year... because my 3rd little girl (my other MFD) laid her first egg today!

No pics, but it looked just like her sister's egg, which was next to it.

well, this past weekend sure was full of surprises!

We went to a chickenstock meet and traded our RIR rooster for a splash cochin rooster. AND we got two cute bantam/buff orpington mix female chicks(who are only like a week or so old!

) THEN, one morning we went out and found that our 4 month old pullet(Linda) layed an egg! I didn't get pics of it, but when our second pullet(Cinnamon) started laying a few days later, I got some pics!

It was sooo interested because we watched her lay it!

She found a little spot, not in the nest box though

, and snuggled up there. It looked like she was going broody, too! She kept grabbing pieces of stuff like grass and feathers, and she would tuck them around her. She was acting sooo strange! I was confused why she kept wanting to go to that particular place. Then, out popped a small tan egg, fairly small.

She rolled it around with her beak a bit, then got up and started cackling like crazy!

It was like she was saying, "Hey! Look guys! I layed an egg!!!! hurray!! I told you Linda wasn't gonna be the only laying hen for long!!!"

It was really funny. Then, she left the "nest" and went back with the other three girls, and the new young rooster we got.
Here are the pics of the little egg. I compared it to my hand and a 10 cent dime and a penny:

And here it is in my hand:

Here's mine. I was totally blown away by how colorful the egg that my little feed store Ameraucana (Easter Egger) laid. The color is so much prettier than what I was expecting it to be. I was expecting more of a light washed out tint.
My little 3 dollar feed store bird! I'm totally thrilled. She laid her first one yesterday and gave me an identical one today. They are both on small side, but the shells are well formed and boy are they colorful.

What a pretty egg!!! I have two EE's right now. Both were supposed to be pullets, but I think one is a cockerel. I hope my eggs are half as pretty as these!!
