Pretty eggs!

I guess I should post my seramas first eggs. At first I was convinced that the first one was a dud from the silkies, but as you can see they keep coming. They are in with the silkies so most likely mixed right now, so I have to get them separated soon.

I have silkies and bantam cochin eggs and then the seramas and button quail for size comparison:

Those Serama eggs are too cute! Have you ever crossed a Serama with a Silkie? I have silkies and would love to have Serama's except they seem so Fragile - and I'm not much of a mixer, I was just curious what they would be like? Have you ever seen any? Tina

Today was the day!!!!! My girls are 19 1/2 weeks old, I'm not sure who laid it, but it is the cutest, most perfect egg ever! I'm so proud of them!

Beside a grocery store egg.

Got my first egg yesterday from my 18 1/2 week old buff orpingtons and also first quail egg from my jumbo coturnix from SamG!!!! The tiny one is a button quail egg - not new but I had to show for size. I was shocked that the BO egg was so big but it turned out to be a double yolker!!! Way to go girls!!!

YIIPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!

Got TWO blue/green eggs today from our 23.5 week old EE's. Yikes, that took a long time -I never thought I would be able to post here
.
In the picture also are eggs from our adopted year old white cochins and/or jersey giants.

Eggciting!

Went out to check on the girls mid-morning and look what I found!!! I labeled them first and second for the order in which I found them. Never mind that "first" was on the floor! I actually did a double take as the girls are only 16 weeks and 5 days old!

The second egg was found in a nesting box, and given its size, I trust that I have a very responsible little girl laying there. Imagine, laying big eggs your first time out, like the other one! Sheesh. (I put it next to a store bought grade A "large" egg I bought yesterday...maybe they were miffed that I bought store eggs?)

My husband and I are thrilled, these are not just our first eggs, but our first chickens (raised from chicks) as well!

I'm so glad they waited until the weekend so we could really celebrate!

We raised five chicks; three of which turned out to be roosters. We traded one for a RIR hen and she has given us our first egg! The other two younger girls should be laying soon, too! How exciting
