Here's my first egg from my White Leghorn! And of course I had to give both kids a chance to hold it.
I never thought I'd be so eggcited about an egg! We even called grandma and grandpa to tell them the news! LOL.

YAY!!!! HUGE congrats to everyone and finding their first egg!! Today we found our first egg too, and I actually nearly missed it!!! It was kind of like "doth mine eyes deceive me?" I have been on cloud nine ever since. I don't think this finding eggs thing will ever get old at our house and we are all hoping we will find another tomorrow. I thanked the chickens for their hard work with some bites of fruit and a couple hugs. hee hee hee... I don't think they knew why I kept hugging them. Fingers crossed we will have another one tomorrow!!!

Our Black Astralorp starting laying 5 weeks ago but now the bitties I ordered that hatched May 16th Have begun to lay... Here goes.. The biggest one is huge! and that was a RSL's FIRST egg!

Here is my first egg, layed 10/18/08, so exciting!!!! I have had my chicks since first week of June. 13 chickens, 7RIR and 6 BR.. We've gathered three eggs so far. I beleive all from one RIR (caught her coming out of nesting box this morning and found a warm egg!)

The three ladies I rescued last week are now laying, yeah!!! And to top it off, in my main coop I found another egg. I'm thinking its from my hen that hatched out some chicks back in July. It looks like the ones she used to lay. The chicks are still too young. So I went from no eggs for 4 months to 4 eggs in one day!

I'm now thinking the one hen is a cuckoo maran because it is darker than all the other. When I posted pics last week BYC was split on BR or CM. Hers is the top left one

Bottom- White leghorn and small black hen (I don't know what she is). I think she is a banty/LF mix of some sort.

I think your "cuckoo" is a barred rock or dominique possibly. Looks like our BR's and so does the egg. Does it have little spots on it?

It's rough and has very tiny spots. Sooo you still guess BR?? I'm just totally thrown off by her white legs.
