Isn't that the truth. Hard to imagine how quickly they become members of the family. When I told my husband I wanted chickens he kind of rolled his eyes. Now when I can't find him I know to look in the chicken coop, I usually find him talking softly and stroking the hens. Think he loses hours in there. LOL
Mine is worse then yours. He bi ched over and over about having chickens. In the last two weekends he made a coop, every Saturday! Now!! We have 3 COOPS. And he takes our eggs to work for his friends wt_. And as soon as they finish singing he gets the egg /s and gives them a treat

Not our first, but it's the first for one of my girls... WOO HOO...

Another first for me on Saturday, I got to hear my first chicken song.. amazing.

The big brown came from our BCM, she's been laying about 3 weeks now.
The light olive is only the 4th from our Ameraucana, finally showing a better size.
The new arrival today, a pinkish and pretty big for a first timer. Came from one of these:

Well we now know the new eggs came from Whoopie, pictured here, I think she is a Wyandotte but still not really sure. But I'm happy all the same...

Got our first egg today!!! Our girl Lucy laid it under our neighbor's rhododendron bush while my husband was working on the coop. Whoops! Lol. Thankfully they're thrilled we have chickens.

My first egg today, so excited. we have a dozen left that I bought on Thursday, from a friend of mine, she has been asking me every week if we have eggs yet. AND it's the same size as her sale eggs, I used to get her pullet eggs, for free, because she wasn't comfortable selling the small ones. It's perfect, it was on the floor of the coop when I went to let them out and feed them around 2. I'm actually concerned that someone will lay outside the run, as our leghorns and a couple of our other chickens like to get out and free range. I'm not sure which one laid the egg, I know it wasn't a leghorn at least, I think it was a sex link, but we also have 2RIR's and a few other brown egg layers too. They are 16 weeks 3days, I got them as day old chicks.
