my little flocks first egg from

Rosie the red sex link. She is an egg laying machine. Rarely misses a day and when she does most time she lays a double yolk the next day. She also lays eggs so big i can't close the egg carton.

Our first egg! We have four pullets that are possible layer candidates but we think it's one of the Red Stars, Gemma. She was extra noisy today and kept going back to check on the egg. I left it in the nest box until my daughter got here. She wanted to bring it in - she's 26 and doesn't even live here anymore, lol.

Lol, Crooked House. We were gone for three days for our anniversary and came back to have a dozen eggs in the nest box. First time ever, my wife that is scared to death of birds, wanted to collect the eggs.

It's a beautiful egg! It' such a nice feeling, finding that first egg. I know I'm a little crazy, but my heart skips a little beat every time I find an egg...really a little miracle each time.

I think I have several girls starting to lay. I had a small egg the first day, second day same size, third double the first, fourth as small as the first. Then two days with nothing and then I get a small weird one, lol. So wondering if I have more than one going. If that's the case, it's bad news because instead of one insistent on laying on the floor I have several!!

First egg today...I feel like singing the egg song too! It was so hilarious bc I actually SAW it happen. She had been checking out the nest box over the last two days and when I came home from church she was in the box. So I decided to take my "egg watching post" aka the hammock ;) and see what happens. Well thirty minutes later she jumped out the nest box and ran out the coop in the yard. She ran in a sort of circle performing her rendition of "The sky is falling" with lots of bawking and squawking then the egg just sort of plopped out! She casually walked off to drink some water. LOL :) I couldn't get there fast enough to protect my "precious".
