Here is Dorothy's ( Easter Egger from MPC) first blue/green egg! With one store bought white and my other First eggs from last week

Liz, Barred Rock, 27 weeks old.
Her / my first egg: Today, January 5, 2009, 1:09 pm. Brown with lighter speckles.
1.9 oz, 2.3125" long.

Would cost 59¢ to mail it first class (nice job, Liz, keeping it under 2 oz!). The folks in the post office were amused!

Today was a big day for my hens. It was the first day I got an egg from each girl, and it was the first day I saw a freak of nature egg from my BO.

Also, my RIR started developing an egg eating habit so I did some troubleshooting and she didn't eat an egg today. It's too early to call a victory, but she may not have to be rehomed to a casserole dish if she shapes up and flies right.

ta da! not in nest - on floor but hey - perfect with a nice hard shell and looking most lovely - YAY!

kept them in due to ice storm etc... so that is the secret - they've probably been feeding the racoons for weeks! They were born August 1st or so they say - so that makes them five months and 8 days old. yippee!

Finally!

Two first eggs on the same day! From two RIR pullets, ~25 weeks. Laid in the nest box with golf balls like total pros. I even walked in on the last one doing the egg song.

So tasty, best eggs ever. They should be because with coop renovations, those eggs cost $150 each.

YEAH!!! One of my girls is finally starting to pay her rent! It is a beatiful light green color. A little lighter than a bay leaf.
