I am SO PLEASED to be able to post pictures of one of our 3 gold laced Wyandottes ( probably Gertie) first egg! She is the first of my very first chickens to do so, and chose new years morning!

She is 21 weeks old and the gift is so well appreciated as I found out on Tuesday that 115 people are going to be laid off at the company I work for and we won't find out until Tuesday the 6th how the ax falls...

What a wonderful distraction!

It's about time. Bought 3 EEs in October as 15 wk old pullets. Must be doing something right. Thanks to all on this site. The info here has been invaluable for this 1st time chicken owner.
The egg on the left will, hopefully, be my last store bought egg.

My First Ringneck Pheasant Egg, 1/4/09 I want to get it in the bator soon, but am gonna wait just a wee while to see if they lay more!!
 
Thanks xtina I appreciate the thoughts. This is hard... But my girls gave me 4 more eggs since the first including two green/blue ones from my lovely and cuddly DOrothy the Easter Egger!
