AWWWWWWWW!! Another 'baby' egg. This is the smallest one I've gotten so far, like a marble
How wonderful. That is a very pleasant surprise for you...not so much for your pullet OUCH!! I recently was gifted w/ a dinosaur egg of my own. I will be cracking it open soon to see if it's just 2 big yolks or what.
I didn't take a picture before cracking the egg because I thought my neighbor was playing a joke on me, because the first egg showed up at just 16 weeks - I wasn't expecting any until about 20 weeks. I didn't believe it was really our "first egg" until I cracked it in the frying pan and it had three small yolks in it!!

No doubt the eggs taste better that we all are getting, and the yokes so creamy, but the biggest difference that I notice from eating my farm fresh eggs is the white of the eggs. Most of the store bought eggs that I bought have that rubbery, don't even want to eat consistancy to them,, and no taste at all. Well, the whites from my fresh eggs are delicious! Almost like a meaty fluffy type of feeling. I don't mind egg white omlettes at all now! And if I pass on the yokes because I think I've eaten far too many in a week, I just cook them up, and the chickens devour them! lol..We just ate our egg! I am surprised, though I was hoping that my eggs would have a dark yolk and taste better, I really didn't think it would be true! The yolk was a dark orangie yellow and we scrambled it and fried it with only a touch of salt so we could get a good taste of only the egg! It was really good! I can't put my finger on which flavors were so different, but it was flavorful and rich and indeed different from store bought eggs in a good way.
Yaaay, this may be my first farm fresh egg since visiting my Uncle in Germany when I was 9 years old! Too cool!![]()
