Our first ever egg thanks to Cleo, our 16 week old gingerham.

Congratulations FrazzledMum.. that is awesome! What breed is gingerham?

I had the same question. Apparently they are Australian so I'm guessing FrazzledMum is as well

I asked the breeder about Gingerhams and he said they're Isa Browns crossed with White Leghorns. They just gave them a new name because they thought it described them better.

I'm glad that's cleared up!

Maybe FrazzledMum can fill us in during a non frazzled moment

Ha, shows you how frizzled I am,, I thought that was the pullets name. I was curious as she got an egg at 16 weeks, quite precocious, and also, it is summer in Aussie land.

Sooo we have another first today. I had the opportunity to get a quartet of quail! On the way back I heard them make a few noises, nothing crazy....
Got home and when I opened the box to put them in their hut there it was!!! My first quail egg

it's posing w/ one of my NH's eggs.

ok still new to all this, I have heard of the egg song, so what is the egg squat?

When you walk up to your chicken & she legit squats. She'll crouch down low & will look silly - she's letting you(the head rooster of course) know she's willing ;)

Some of my girls even follow me to continue to squat in my path & they've been laying for a few months now too! It's always a silly time working outside
