The paper towel lol She just let it happen, not phased at all. Maybe got a bit mouthy at me, but more for not giving her a treat than putting the towel on her.

Why the paper towel? I have found only 2 "squishy" eggs and both have been under the perches, I don't think they know that it is an egg when it's shell-less.

.....hope she gets back on track very soon. My BO laid her first egg today, I was thrilled! So now 3 of the 4 are laying, and the EE squatted today, so it won't be long...think "blue".

Our first egg ever (1st pic) our second egg was broke so I moved the osyter shell into the coop. 2nd pic is today's egg in a carton of store bought xl eggs. I don't know which one is laying but I can't wait till they all get going.

Congrats on your first useable egg! Our BO laid her first one today, so I'm thrilled! Sort of amazing how excited we get, it's just an egg for cryin' out loud. But we do!

thank you, our first egg went into the peanut butter cookies we made. tomorrow the other one goes into the meatloaf, lol. it is funny how an egg gets someone pumped up.

The first 4 BO eggs we cooked were double yoked. From what I've read that is common for hens when they start laying but the first 4 cooked, what are the chances?

Our RIR layed a double-yolker shortly after she started laying, but none since then. Durn it!

Congrats to everyone on yall's eggs! Looking great now how to get them to lay in the nesting boxes and without scratching the hay out? I need help! Also I'm wanting to know if my rir hens will in the future be good broodies and hatch me out some baby barred rocks? also I've tried the golf ball and regular eggs hoping to entice them to lay:/
