I don't think that is true we've had quails and chickens at the same time and both did very well along with pigeons ducks geese guineas and a few turkeys

The folks from the quail forums said the quail could live in a contained quail house within the chicken area but not free range. I can see why, my new quail are quite spazzy compared to my lovely hand raised ladies lol

We found our first eggs today!! The girls are about 19 weeks old but were not sure who the eggs are from. They all have been acting odd lately and we know for sure why!! !!!! EGGS !!!!

After a 5 month wait, I finally found my first egg, not even in the nest box, just on the ground in the run. When I bought the chickens they were supposedly laying already, so it has been a lot of patience on my part!

Now my blue wheatan as given her 1st egg up and splash wheatan started laying just a few weeks ago! I gave away a dozen blue eggs and I thought the guy was gonna have a heartattack he was so excited lol more so than me. The kids LOVE finding a blue one in the coop...its like a surprise everytime lol I need green now Mwahahaha...and chocolate. Need some marans to lay some dark browns so I have a pretty egg basket lol

The addiction of egg color got me too. We started with 2 EE's, 2 BR's and 2 SLW's. We now have 1 SLW, 2 BR's, 3 EE's (one promising to be a blue egger) and a BCM with 2 more BCM (one blue) coming in 10 weeks. We then hope to add 2 OE's by next fall if my friend's OE project pans out. That would give me the prettiest egg basket!! Still waiting for 2 of the EE's and the BCM to start laying. 2 of the 3 are at the "any day" point, the other is only 14 or so weeks.

Eight eggs total in 4 days
Just started laying at 21 weeks. Not sure who laid what. I have 1 each Black Copper Maran, Columbian Wyandotte,Blue Orpington, and Dominique! So rewarding to go out and find eggs

First egg how could an adult be so excited! My first time raising backyard chickens. They are the kids my pets
They have helped take care of from day one when we picked them up from hatchery!!!
