Our very fist egg - found on Dec 7!

And this is what we have found until today - Dec 13th. The first egg on the left was our second, then the third etc. You can see how they are getting bigger, except for #2 and #4 being exactly the same size. I think these are from my bantam cochins.
The 2 extra large white eggs are from the store - just in the picture to get a size comparison. I think egg 3,5, 6 and 7 are from my standard brown egg layers.

Our Cuckoo Marans finally layed her first egg, she was born June 7th. Pretty dark YAH!

Thank you, luvmychicknkids! The morning light really makes the walls glow...along with the yellow living room, green bedroom, and bright blue bathroom! I don't shy from color, that's for sure.

Frogdogtimestwo, that egg is beautiful! When I have the space/time/inclination, I definitely want cuckoo marans. That egg is really spectacular.

Finally one of my hens (Rhode Island Red) laid an egg!
1) Currently roosting (and her egg)... the light is about to shut off (8:30p). I added light because my friends and family were doubting I would get any eggs and I said that (per this website) with 11 daylight hours, it is not enough for them to start producing.

Today someone laid a HUGE egg.
It is on the far left, all these eggs are from my girls:

It stands so tall the egg carton didn't close all the way.

Woot! My Christmas present came early! I finally found my first little egg! I have been waiting so patiently ( not even threatening them) and treating them so nice! When I went to shut the light off at 4:30 there was a golf ball out of the first nest so I pick it up and put it back. Check the second nest box and had to do a double take! Right there next to the golf ball was a pretty little brown egg. It is only half the size of the store bought large eggs and it is the cutest thing! I gave them all a little bit extra scratch and a hug!
