The white is a store bought egg and the brown is from my 21 week old white leghorn. Apparently she didn't get the memo that she is supposed to lay white eggs lol
First Easter Egger egg from Pepper girl (8/6/15) at 23 weeks, next to our Australorp Penny's egg (started laying 7/21/15) who started laying at 21 weeks.
OMG i was so excited when my wife called me at work and told me that we have our first eggs.
Here is a picture of our first eggs ISA Browns, 5 mo old, we are both new to this and it has been fun
now it is time to reap the rewords.
We got out first egg from our RIR Ruby! She layed it yesterday about 5pm. She started freaking out looking for a proper place to nest around 3pm, about 4:45 I put her in one of the nesting boxes and she was very happy with the accommodations! 15 minutes later she had laid her first egg Nice hard shell and shape, decent size for a first one too.
Today around 11AM heard one of our girls singing the egg song in the nesting box. After several trips in and out of the coop she laid her first egg around 12:30. She is a RIR and around 24 weeks old. Now just have to get the other three freeloaders (1 RIR AND 2 BR) to lay. The bottom picture is it next to a store egg.
We have 11 hens and I am not really sure who is laying but we have 2 different shades of brown but not a huge difference. Pretty sure the Gold stars are laying but not sure if any others are- 3 Barred Rocks, 2 Gold Stars, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Cuckoo Marans and 2 EE? (That were sold to us as Ameracaunas but experts on BYC say EE)
Our leghorn laid our first egg yesterday!! Its so little and so perfect!! Shes given us a second egg this afternoon! Way to go girly!! She is just 19 weeks old
