Our first egg in our first year with chickens was accidentally dropped by my sister so never actually got eaten.

By the way, has anyone noticed that when laying hens are introduced to the flock, easter eggers tend to be the last to start laying?

MountainPea, Congrats to you and your chicken that laid the first egg! Yes, I agree that it is very exciting to get that first egg. @puffypoo22 - in 4 years of chicken keeping, and every new group of layers - my EE's have always been the first to lay. It looks like it will happen this spring too!

Got my first egg from this pullet, and surprise its a beautiful blue/green! I wouldnt believe it if I didnt see it, it was funny because she actually looked behind her after she laid it. She is a RIR x EE so I always thought the brown would override the blue, awesome surprise

congrats on the first egg. That one looks just like the ones I get from my RIR / Polish mix hens. all four of mine lay the same greenish colored eggs.

Thanks! The egg was actually glossy but looks kinda dull in the pics..never as good as real life. Oh and Kay the EEs are always the most exciting, everyday can be a surprise
