Checked on my 19-week black bantam cochins this morning and, well, lookie what I found here:

Found another one at 3 pm too, so both girls are apparently laying. Sweet.

We got our first egg the day before yesterday. I think it could have been from either a Barred Rock or a Dominique. I saw one of them in a nesting box a few days ago(they were in head first so I couldn't tell if it was a BR or a Dominique), checking it out and the next day we found a wee light brown egg. I'm just amazed that it was in a nesting box and not on the floor where so many young pullets seem so inclined to lay their first.

It's the egg on the bottom right.

Just got mine today!!! I saw her sitting in the hen house today on the blue egg I put in there! Didn't figure she'd lay an egg!! But she did!! YAY!!

Here is our first egg from one of our Golden Comets, Fawkes-who will be 16 weeks old in two days.
It's tiny-but very cute!

I'm very excited about this little egg!

It's been a lot of work to get to this point!

First EE egg my BOs have been laying for a bit but so excited!! A perfect lil robins blue egg or as my 2 yr old son says mom the egg is the same as Thomas!!
