Raccoons are active during the day in less populated areas. I am hoping he stays away from my chickens or he will be finding a new home!

Wow, I love love LOVE this thread! We just bought our first home and moved in January 19th...we have 8 and a half acres out in the woods...we set up the game cam near an antler trap I put up. Haven't caught pics of anything but deer and crows so far, but we'll see once the chickens are out in the coop...the game cam is set up near it!






I THINK this is a red tail hawk (middle left of the photo) the camera caught flying straight towards it...but not sure

Not yet...I just started, my babies are 3 days old. I want them to free range...we have plenty of space...but with the hawks I've seen around here, it may not be such a good idea, unless I let them range while I'm with them. Those crows should help keep the hawks away from them once they are old enough to go outside, though, shouldn't they?

Umm...well, yea, about them sticking around...they might not, since I got p.o.'d about them stealing the corn out of my antler trap...so I started shooting at them with my bb gun, and after about a week of doing that (with no luck, I might add...they are SO freakin' smart...every time I opened the door to shoot at them they took off), I decided on a different tactic that wasn't against the law (discovered shooting at crows is a no-no), which is covering the corn during the day with a board. I still have crows around...lots of them...but they don't bother the trap anymore.
