They are everywhere. I think you may be correct as I see no tail. We had a Bobcat kill several of our Pheasants.

This guy appears to have lost the fight. He has one side of his rack broken off and his left side is bloody. Got a pic coming and going. I of course was not there when he came through.

You Dirty Rat!!!

Something dug a hole outside under my greenhouse with an entrance on the inside. We thought it might be a chipmunk which had been hanging around ~ but Nooo ~ it is a RAT!! Hubby will be boarding up the inside hole today and we will try to dispose of the Rat. The pen on the right in the pictures is the inside part of our Bobwhite Quail pen ~ they have both inside & outside access. The pen had wire on all sides including the bottom. The Rat was helping itself to my bird food. (Please disregard the 117 degree temp. it is stuck there)

Typical, eh? ;)
He had a buddy with him...let's see how smart they really are. Bet he can't resist the mini marshmallows.
That's happened to me before. One gets caught & his buddies scatter. They aren't easily fooled again, no matter the kind of bait. That's my experience anyway. I'm thinking of setting my trap in the woods. Normally I wouldn't consider it on their turf, but I figure its just a matter of time before they find the coop.

I've seen a feral cat stalking my young birds before in spring & would've shot it if my gun were handy. There are all kinds of cats around here - I'm aware that some are just mousers, but there are those that want something more filling.
