Post your March hatch results!

I locked down 48 eggs on Saturday and I now have 47 new fuzzy butts! 5 frizzled Bantam Cochins, 11 Blue & Splash Ameraucanas and 31 EE's (Cuckoo Marans/Ameraucana x Ameraucana) in my brooders. There is one lone EE egg still in the bator which I will give a couple more days.

Some of the EE's ~ blue, black & splash (they look almost like the Ameraucanas ~ they have the same Daddy)

I will be refilling the bator the end of the week!

Awwww, they're adorable! Look at all those fuzzy blue babies! I'm positively green with envy.

I have a confession. I bought more hatching eggs the day before I went into lockdown with my first batch. I've got 9 Lavender Orpingtons in the bator right now..and Ameraucanas and Salmon Faverolles on the way.

I'm officially addicted. Please help. Help me get more eggs, that is.

I set eggs on the 2nd of March

24 EE
8 Yokohama
2 RIR
2 dark brahma x Buff Cochin

This is day 20 and 6 have hatched so far. I can't tell which eggs hatched yet because the windows on my bator have fogged up so that I cant see in there very well. I would like to get the chicks in the brooder as soon as I can, but I don't want to open the lid. I hope it will be alright to take the dry ones out in the morning and shut the bator as quick as I can.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I got all the eggs locally from BYC members.

Things are slowing down here, so I think it's safe to post. I'll update if I get any surprises tomorrow.

My line-up:
32 set on the 1st
2 set on the 2nd

1 infertile
1 quitter
32 into lock-down
______________

1 pipped (stalled yesterday probably dead)
14 hatched & healthy
1 crippled (curled feet, can't straighten them for booties... I tried.)
2 dead
14 no action

This was a first hatch using a borrowed still-air LG and eggs from back-yard hens. I did lots of things wrong. I did lots of things right. An interesting experience... I'm still processing it emotionally.

Manwich is a basset hound. He has had 3 months of proffesional training and doesn't even come when we call him. Everytime we see that you don't have to be a man to love manwich commercial we sigh and say nobody loves Manwich. (we do love him. he's just exasperating.) lol

I need to figure out how to post pics, but so far 12/17 A&Ms have hatched, 2 died(one drowned, one died after pipping) and two are still in the bator. Waiting on 8 Ameraucanas and 5 Marans this week. We'll see. How do you all post pictures? Photobucket?

You can use any online photo program, photobucket, flickr, PicasaWeb, or Facebook. Once you have the photo online so it has a URL, right click and copy the URL, then click on the 'Img' button above the comment box. You'll see this:
appear. Paste the pic URL in between those two sets of brackets and voilà!

0/15 YUCK!!!
don't let your hens lay in the same nestbox as your broody hen is setting. it can make for some pretty nasty surprises in the kitchen
she is now separated and sitting on a new pile of eggs due mid april.....
