Postal System lost my chicks

USPS has said I can file a claim, and it sounds like I will get all my money back, including what i paid to Lund Poulry. It's not Lund's fault that I know of, so they don't owe me anything. vjbakke, that's exactly what I did too. My home post office has been watching for the chicks since Tuesday, ready to call me when they come in. They are upset about this too (small town, and I know they are good people). They spent almost half an hour on the phone trying to find them today too. It's all so very frustrating. Thank you all for the good wishes! We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Last time a problem like this happens I posted my feelings on the subject, I had a postal employee go "postal" on me. So this time I'll say I sincerely hope the chicks can be found and some caring employee took the time to feed and water the birds.

Best of luck

So sorry you had to go through this experience

I can only imagine the anxiety and anger you must be feeling. My only experience with ordering live chicks was very positive. The lady at our post office (MPC won't send chicks to your house in case no one is there to receive them) was on alert that they were going to come either Tuesday or Wednesday and called me at 7:31, the minute she arrived at the post office that morning, and I ran down there before Post Office was even officially open and picked them up. Please keep us all posted as to how this turns out.

After many dealings with the USPS, I decided to drive to the hatchery and pick mine up. It was a 60 mile one way trip but worth every penny spent on fuel. I hope that they arrive safe and sound for you.

Thank you all so much for your support! I have talked to some very responsible people at USPS in the last few days. However, for over 24 hours, no one could tell me where my chicks were. I got a call first thing this morning from the St. Louis office and they said the chicks were there at 6 am this morning, and are due here at my post office at 11 am. I will pick them up and document everything. The people at my local post office have been wonderful and very patient with me. They are upset about the situation too. I also want to add that Terry Lund from Lund Poultry has been in very close contact with me throughout this ordeal. Lund Poultry did nothing wrong, and he has also been on the phone with the USPS trying to find the chicks. I would work with them again in a heartbeat. Chicks are shipped via the USPS all the time. That's how all the farm stores in our area get their chicks. They order from hatcheries and get them in the mail. I have ordered chicks in the past thru the mail with no problems. I do believe this situation is not the norm, but someone somewhere was negligent and I do want it investigated. I will let you all know how the chicks are when they arrive. Thanks again!

I am so glad to hear your chicks are going to be there today! I hope they are all alive and well. Please update here when you have them... pics of your healthy new peepers would be great, too! You know how we BYCers are .... we like pics of happy endings!
