I just recieved 12 eggs and about half of them have soil on them, what should i do with this??

thanks

If it's not too bad I set them as they are. If they're a bit worse, I brush or scrape gently to get the worst off. Even fine sandpaper if needed. My last hatch was a lot of dirty eggs and they hatched just fine.

Did you get them on Ebay? You can try to remove the soil with a stiff brush. Some use a sanding card but you have to be really careful. You might ask the seller what they recommend, then let them know that this is not acceptable. I would probably give them a brush and set them any way. Good luck, I know its a disappointment.

thanks guys

i brushed and scratched until i got the dirt off and now about 1/4 of the dirty eggs are dirt marks

While I do agree....I would rather receive eggs with a little dirt on them then eggs that have been washed!

Pick it off with a fingernail if you can.

I use one of the "Magic Eraser" sponges to clean my eggs. I found some that were an off brand at Walgreen's that were 4 sponges per box and 2 boxes for $1. I either dampen then or use them dry. This has not affected the eggs.

I have dirty eggs in my trash can right now. . . and the babies that were in them are cheeping away in the brooder.

Dirt doesn't hurt them at all. I scrape off any big clumps of poo, but otherwise I leave them alone.
