I know ....just p****d me off when someone repeats what I said with the "100 post" authority

I've also had chickens growing up and had them on an off all my life . But I have learned so much from all these folks on here. And I've never raised pheasant , but if I do , I'm gonna remeber that trick!! This forum is like anything- Some of it ends up being stuff you already know, or stuff that works for somebody else , but maybe not you personally or sometimes it's just complete Hooey! LOL And then you read something that completely teaches you a new way to do something. I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the genetics stuff!!

I also try to remember that a lot of people are just starting out and know absolutely zip. Everybody has to start somewhere. So I always try to encourage new people and even the very young people who get on. There are a lot of experts on here who gladly give advice without looking down their nose. Maye a few who are condescending, but we just overlook them!! LOL

So true, I was born and raised on a farm and have lived on a farm everyday of my life, and Im still learning everyday. Most people have different ways of doing things, and we can all learn no matter how expirienced we are if we are willing to listen.

But wait! How do we know if we should believe you about the pheasant......Just kidding! Really!

We should all hope that any question from me or any other newbie gets enough experienced responses to help them decide what to do. My personal example was the debate on whether the floor of my coop should be 1/2 x 1/2 wire or solid. I wound up making a wire floor with a slide-out cover and the true benefit was easy cleaning. This summer when it's hottest, I'll see how the girls like walking on the wire bottom so they get the best ventilation. The debate goes on.

Mahonri,
So glad to hear your in foster care. Maybe with enough family counseling you'll get to feeling better about your biological family. I'm sure they meant well.

Now back on topic (at least for a second, if my mind will track that long)

I had chickens for several years before finding BYC, and it seems like everyday I find out that I'm doing it wrong. But my chickens are doing it wrong too. Just last week I looked out back and was surprised to see my WR x BR cross in the pond. Not next to the pond, but in the 4 foot deep pond with the goldfish. I just had to go lie down for awhile. I think as long as you can avoid feeling like every opinion is a personal attack. It's kind of funny. So I guess the diversity is great. Even if the other 24,999 of you are all wrong!

Imp-kinda decisively maybe

Really I think this is a great site , but I've just been put off by some members attitudes-no offense to anyone else

I agree 100and10% my old neighbor is a farmer who never seen a computer, but he propobly can answer most of my ??/ about chickens and cows, because that all what he does since he born.

and while we speak about this subject, I really get mad when someone thinks that he/she knew it all, especially when you know for a fact that you know better and the other party still argue with you.

I do construction for living, I am a dirt boy/ excavation works, and when it comes to construction ( with all my respect for every body) I think I do very well, not because I am smarter or better than anyone else no just because I do it all the time so I became traind on doing this kind of stuff like when you train a cat to use a litter box or the chicken to go to bed, I am not going to say any names but please for the ones who do argue, just don,t make others upset.

Thank you all.

Omran.

At one time, I was put off by an administrator. It turned out she was right and I was wrong. I stayed in there until this became a very comfortable place to be. Hang in there and try to stay with the subjects that are important to YOU.
