postings are not an indicator of experience with birds

i've had chickens for 13 years and just started on this forum, so you never know what experience people have, somebody with 5000 posts could just have one chicken and no life!!

Not even the memories of your mother hen, the coop you called home, and your little fuzzy butt brothers and sisters? That's so sad.

ok so it was a kid I didn't name him or direct others to him and I totally didn't know it was a kid. Just the remark he made got under my skin so now I feel like a creep for being angry about something a kid said. Jeez I should have looked at his profile or something before I started this rant. Sorry guys.

No problem. I think we've all been there. It's hard because sometimes it's not immediately clear the age of the poster. Sometimes I do a search on the User list for the name and look at other posts that they've made. It usually doesn't take long to spot the kids that way. It's helped me not be nearly as annoyed at some of the things said by underage users in the past.

I was reading this thread and I completely agree the number of posts has nothing to do with your knowledge of chickens. Basically it shows how much time you have to kill.

The above post struck me as funny though. When the Mountain Men were around there were no Pheasants in this country.

Sometimes it would be nice if there was someway to identify the younger posters, but because of the world we live in I understand the need to shield them, and we need to continue to protect them. Most of the time it doesn't take long to pick them out tho from their postings. There are young people/children on here because they want to learn more about their chickens...and those who already have knowledge to share from what they've learned. Then there are those who I think only log on when they're bored and killing time. I've learned to ignore the ones who annoy me.
