Pot belly pigs?

Usually there is some agency you can call about trespassing livestock. In some areas it is the sheriff's department and in others it is animal control. I have known of cases where the authorities have impounded the trespassing critter and then taken it to the sales yard where the owner can claim it after paying fees.
I thought the same but do they care enough about to claim it and have to pay the fee. Those can get pricey and can / will the neighbors/ owners come claim it. If not... what happens to it? They're not easily adopted I know that's not OP problem but sounds like they care
I feel so terrible for OP being stuck in this situation !

It is my understanding that stray livestock is generally held for a period and then sold at auction if not claimed.

I do appreciate the advice but I am not going to involve authorities. It will only make the situation worse, and as I said I have my dogs and ducks to worry about if they felt they needed to retaliate against me. I texted the wife last night and asked what their plans were with the pig, because I’m tired of it being in my yard constantly. She told me to talk to her husband because it’s “his” pig :eye roll:. So I began to make myself more clear and told her to ask her husband to get some plastic wrap because I’m fixing to shoot and hang it since nobody wants to do anything about it. Tune changed real quick and in a matter of minutes the pig pen turned into a construction site, kids and everything. Pig was back in my barn this am, if it ain’t rectified looks like everyone is having sausage. I’ve had enough.

Maybe send a letter to your town board, saying that you’ve tried talking to your neighbors about their pig that gets loose and the destruction that he has caused. The legally would have to come check out the situation and take care of it. Then it’s out of your hands. Maybe it’ll go to an animal shelter to someone who will take care of it.

The pig definitely doesn’t have a concept of personal space, she (I think) is always right up on me and since I’m not used to her it’s a little unsettling. Am I just being a weenie? How do I teach her respect? What do I do if she does get aggressive?

I mentioned to the neighbors my concerns and that I would find her a good home with other pigs. Well the woman didn’t like that much and said if I wasn’t going to keep it that she has no problem using the lard to make her own lye soap and “that’s food for my kids”. So I’m not sure what to do.
Hi! I just got a potbelly pig and she's also female. I knew absolutely nothing about her but she is very territorial and attached to me. I bought a book and it helped alot, it says females can be whiney and demanding if they aren't fixed. It's easier to train her with food too and when she does something you don't like say no in a deeper/lower voice because yelling or high pitches remind them of excitement and playtime
