So solanine is the culprit! Wow. I had begun to believe it was a myth not based on fact. So I will continue to be careful about which peels I give my girls. Last year I zapped them in the microwave as insurance (without any green in them) but according to the links you sent microwaving would not have any effect on the solanine.
