Potting soil for dust bath

Sorry not sure where to post this, my chickens run I'd filled with gravel so not idea for a dust bath wanting to make one for them out soil is clay so I was wondering would potting soil work to put in a dust bath for them?

It can but I would mix in a lot of sand. Most potting soils are designed to help with moisture retention and you don't want that in a dust bath.

Most potting soils are not really soil at all but more of a mulch combined with fertilizer. I'd get a bag or two of "top soil" instead and then spread that out to dry till it was crumbly and able to create dust.
