Poultry Breeds of Spanish Ancestry

Yes, I do. Not an expensive one, but I've had two hatches in it. they were about 50% but I think I saved the first eggs too long before setting.

I put my second hatch out in a pen today as they were getting too big for the brooder. They are the PP's crossed with a Copper Maran cock. I can hardly wait to get the PP cockerel in with those girls.

In the message, I asked if you ever get north on I-5... if so, how far? I am in WA but might be able to come south. Hubby is not well so I hesitate to be away too long.
no sorry . I do not get north of Sacramento often. though there is a Spanish Goat breeder I am eying up there when I get my pasture fenced

I have one lone Partridge Pendenesenca who hatched early Wed, I still have 8 more eggs in the incubator but I do not hold much hope for them. Of coyrse the post office had a field day with the box and I was surprised to have any hatch. I will try it again as no one else here in TN has them so I can't just pick up eggs.

Best of luck to you jlynnp. I ended up back in January with three year old Partridge Pene hens from a lady who was using them to breed "brown egg layers". They are laying machines with lovely dark eggs. Before that, I did not know what they are. I love them. I ordered five more pullets and two cockerels from a hatchery. When they finish growing, there will be a flock to start breeding from.

Partridge Penes are amazing!

It is sad that so many seem to go for the Marans and the PPs are so rare in the US.

I hatched out a pullet today.

How can you tell? Are they sex linked?
The boys are light colored without much of a chipmunk pattern. Girls are brown with a chipmunk pattern.

The three light colored chicks in the video are boys. The other two are girls.
