i'm sorry that just sounds to painfull for me to even put my oegb through. he's from ideal hatchery and i dont plan on showing him (ok maybe the kids will for 4-h but thats it). me personally like them better with their combs and wattles and i would be afraid that it wouldnt stop bleeding and my roo would bleed to death.

edit: what do you mean the earlobes i have seen videos of people dubbing but never seen them mess with the earlobes.?

everything on the face is dubbed, comb, wattles, and lobes. And to show OEGB they HAVE to be dubbed. Natural (Un-dubbed) birds are immediately disqualified.

i've noticed here that 4-h fair it doesnt seem to matter, eaither that or the other showers dont know they should be dubbed...

Different strokes for different folks. I like the dubbed look on most games (Orientals look better with comb intact), but dubbing is an issue that has been discussed over and over on this forum. I've heard of one person dubbing the comb and cauterizing the wound with a heated copper rod I believe and her bird not even acting like it phased him; and this wasn't some whacko but a well respected person on this forum.

There are plenty of things I probably don't agree with in the world of poultry, but I typically won't say anything usually. Dubbing is like tail docking, even if you can do so early enough puppies don't feel any pain you will always have a side that is against it due to it being unnecessary/not natural in their opinion. There will also be those that are pro-dubbing, as it is a necessity for showing and can become a benefit medically if a bird gets frostbite.

God bless,
Daniel.

The thing is that abbreviations are more confusing than useful.

Chris

That's true, especially when they're taken out of context. Everyone in poultry knows what a RIR, AOSB or an OEGB is, or a BV, BB, RV, RB but those are pretty much the only commonly accepted abbreviations. All of the others are simply the product of today's lazy text speak. On a forum, once the page with the first usuage has past, they are meaningless.

I don't know what a AOSB is or some of the others, some are obvious, some not so much.
