Hello Everyone,
I'm a newly obsessed chicken owner who's interested in attending a chicken competition. I've located a number of competitions in Ohio, however, I live in CT. Are any of you aware of a chicken competition/fair held on the East Coast?

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Best,
Mark

Hi, Mark and
welcome-byc.gif

Our area is not known for alot of close shows.
The closest one that I know of to you is Sussex County Poultry Fanciers in Sparta, NJ
Their next show is May 19th.
At the end of this month, I will be going to Delmarva, in Harrington, DE, 3/31-4/1

And you just missed the Northeast Poultry Congress, at the Big E in Springfield, MA
That is every January.

Are you planning on showing any particular breed, or will you make up your mind when you see them all?

Hope to see you around!
Roberta

Hi Mark - welcome to BYC! My woman Roberta has already told you about the best three shows in the area, but if you want to look for more, these sites are usually reliable:

http://poultryb.dot5hosting.com/upcomingshows.html

http://www.browneggblueegg.com/Shows.html

Probably the best place for info on just about every show in the country is The Poultry Press, the newspaper for serious breeders and exhibitors, but it can be pretty overwhelming with all of the info in there.

Once you have a general idea of the time and location of a show you're interested in, keep an eye out for a thread about it under the Chickenstocks and Shows section here. Those threads are great fonts of knowledge on everything from the show hall to where to park and what restaurant to go to for dinner.

The thread for the Sussex show is up - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/646352/nj-sussex-county-poultry-fanciers-annual-spring-show - make sure you subscribe to get regular info, and look up Roberta and me when you get there!
