Poultry Feed, Starter/Grower, Grower/Finisher. Which feed is right?

Thanks, I think I understand now. The starter/grower will be fine up to the time they start laying but it's medicated so I just need to be sure to stop feeding it when they begin to lay or we will be eating the medication in the eggs. I assume the layer feed also contains extra calcium and whatever else the hens need to produce healthy eggs. Or will I need to also buy the oyster shell at that time?

It contains extra calcium so you don't need oyster shell if that is the only thing they eat. Chances are though it's not so a dish of free choice oyster shell is a good idea. As for the medication, it's fine. It's mostl ikley amprolium and that has no withdrawl time. You could eat the eggs even if they were on the feed.

We have five 11wk old BR hens and two 11wk old Red Sex linked Roosters. We intigrated them in with our flock a couple weeks ago. They have all there feathering. Our large flock is fed a mix of Layer feed and Scratch grains as there is no way to keep them all seperate. They seem fine so far but should I start mixing in more chick starter? we have hatched out 13 chicks of our own recently and have just been feeding them the chick starter as its 4 dollars more then the Layer feed and 6 more then the scratch grains.
This post made me wonder if we need to do things different. Just wondering what I should do?

I just bought fancy scratch feed because the starter grower said to feed unil 6 weeks. Will this be okay as the only feed? They are in the coop and eat bugs/worms.
