Poultry permit TX

I asked about any restrictions on quail being shipped into TX & the Tx An Hlth Com person I spoke to said they had to have pulloram/typhoid & avian inf shot + health cert from a vet & a permit issued over the phone whose # was required on outside of the box. She also added this was for ANY poultry except pidgeons or doves. Has anyone else gotten this from them?

Sometimes it's better not to ask. Did you need approval before they were shipped or something? You could also always get hatching eggs and hatch your own...surely they can't have that many requirements for shipping eggs.
