We haven't used score card judging here in the US in many years. We judge by comparison with an awareness of point values. You can always find a difference between 2 birds. There can't be 2 first place winners.

My understanding is that in Europe they judge with scorecards, and yes, two birds can have the same score as they are not judged against each other. But the only place you might find that in the US is with tabletop judging at serama (only) shows.
