I am doing some last minute prep for the swap this weekend. Planning on bringing a temporary 8x8 pen to house my birds. Will that be alright? I assume most people bring a bunch of small cages.......but I have only my big pen which will be divided and covered. It does not have a bottom so any droppings will be straight on the gravel. Is that alright?

My father is in town visiting and may come with me to help out. He is NOT a chicken person, but will happily sit in a lawn chair reading a magazine all day LOL.

I'll be color banding all the kids as they go into their travel cages....will cut bands off before they go home with anyone, but hoping it will make it easier to tell the identical ones apart. Bringing feed, water and ice......don't have access to any sort of boxes, so hoping people think to bring their own travel cages?

Not bringing any ducks as I have had no solid interest and don't really have the room. Added a pair of gold laced bantam cochins to my list

I'm also going to bring 2 Salmon Faverolles hens, both 1 year old and laying well, in addition to the younger birds I'm bringing. I'm trying to make room to start a new project in the fall.
 
Uh oh........I get the feeling I might be bringing home more birds than I left with. I made the CUTEST salmon fav/cochin chick......blue with big ol puffy cheeks. But I only have 1 salmon fav girl. Hmmmmm...........
 
Nella, your pen and plans sound great. I talked in person with the Marathon owner - he's happy we will be there to bring some business in. He is waving the $5 per vendor fee!!

These are all from my 6/28 hatch

And the 2 lav cockerels and lav pullet from my 5/26 hatch

Plus some nice big black split boys
 
wegotchickens...I could probably arrange to have the whites in turkey creek by 6pm tomorrow night, LOL. I have been asking $20 per pair of D'uccles so far....I could even toss in a porcelain boy for free. Aren't I awesome? Haaaaaaaaaa.

Sarah, those kitties are cuuuuuute. I am going to try to leave daddy-o at home as if he is with me I can almost guarantee a kitten will not be coming home me, sigh. Mr Norman was telling me last night how much he needs a cute (spayed) girlfriend.

thechickonthehill, how much are you asking for the Salmon Fav hens? I actually know someone who will probably want both. I will check with her, and if so, will pick them up for her.

LOL you guys crack me up, see how I just stick to my one pair....huh? Oh gosh I hope I am that strong AT the swap.

Sarah, I shall be at your place at o'dark thirty...I will wait for that mask wearing killer to show up...he is not getting there before me another night. Besides that...after several hours with my MIL here I will need to kill something.

BTW thank you so so very much for bringing Jeff to dig the hole for me...that was so sweet, even if he thought I was crazy. LOL
