I'm going to a local poultry swap on Sunday, what should I expect? I'm hoping to get one or two of something interesting looking or easter eggers for my laying flock.

Will there likely be young chicks or will they be older birds? I'm assuming there will be a slightly more exotic selection there since it's local breeders but I'm not sure what I should expect at all. I'm sure it varies by region but for those of you who've been to poultry swaps in your area, what were they like? What kinds and ages of birds were available? Were the prices reasonable?

Thanks!

There will be everything from hatching eggs to full grown birds

Our local swap is very small because I live on an island. We've had 2 this year.
Not much at the first because it was so early in the year, but last month had lots and lots of chicks, from day-olds to fully feathered.
I was lucky - I already had 7 week-olds in my brooder which I'd ordered so I "couldn't" get any more. Plus I didn't take a carrier, so I wouldn't be tempted.
I'm looking forward to the one at the end of May.

The good thing about a local swap like ours is that everyone knows everyone, so you aren't likely to get bad stock. Word gets around and nobody wants to risk a bad reputation.
The bad thing about a local swap is the danger of inbreeding. But sellers usually know their flock .sources
