Powderpuff butts look a little poopy

Is this normal after they have started laying! Or Should I adjust their feed or something! I am still trying to feel my way through my first year of chickens. Thanks for any advice. They otherwise are eating and behaving normally.

Fluffy butts get poopy. You can trim some of the feathers from around the vent. It helps.

That's what I do. I have a few with extra fluffy back sides that occasionally get some poop stuck on the feathers. A little trim with a scissors now and then takes care of the problem.

Grab one and wash the poopy butt with lots of water and a rag....then you can see the individual feathers around the vent....trim them with scissors almost down to the skin....it will look horrible, like a baboons butt until the feathers dry and fill in. Good luck!
