A transformer blew near my house and my power is out. They can’t get it back on until 6:45. Will my eggs be okay? Would taking the incubator outside to keep it warm in the sun work? Would it hurt the eggs? I’m a little anxious about what to do and if they are going to be okay. Any help or guidance would be amazing!

If you are still able to heat water (gas stove, grill, camping stove), could you use a hot water bottle or similar? You would need to be careful of not over-heating and would want to wrap the hot water bottle in several layers of towels and check the temp often. Good luck and I hope you get power back soon!

What day are you on? What's the ambient temp in your house? Some incubators actually include a 1-2 hr (or longer) daily cool down as it supposedly benefits the chicks. It mimics the hen getting off the nest for a break. Here's an article about it:

I am keeping some hot hands hand warmers to use in case we lose power here.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes....

Power came back on sooner rather than later. The humidity was pretty high when i went back and checked on them and the temp was a little low. Thank goodness the power came back on very quickly.
Good news! So, what day are your eggs on?
There are people who have used/are using their own body temp to incubate eggs, so placing eggs in your clothing might be another option for power outages and small #s of eggs, esp for short periods.

I've got eggs on day 15. We were under tornado warning last night, sirens going, etc. But nothing came of it, no power outage, no damage here. I was reviewing my options just in case tho, including thinking of taking the 11 eggs to bed w me.
