I have some eggs in the incubator and the power has been out for about 6 hours now and the temp in the bator is around 70 and they are set to hatch on July 3rd and my question is will they still hatch ok what should I do

This just happened to me. I left them alone. 8hrs without electicity out of 11 duck eggs 4 didn't hatch. out of 12 guineas 3 did not hatch. This about a normal hatch rate for me.

this is my nightmare..power outage or lightbulb burn out during day before i realize it. I think after this second incubation im gonna change my bulb out for a new one and use it in my house for something or maybe the brooder

Well the power has been out for about 14 hours I am going to count those eggs as a loss and try again in a few days this was going to be my first hatch I guess it wasnt ment to be

Don't give up yet. There are live chicks in there generating their own heat. Even 24 hours isn't too long to keep going. Is the power expected back on any time soon? Is there someone nearby that has a generator running where you could take your incubator and plug it in? Can you take the 'bator and drive somewhere where they haven't lost power? Can you warm up some bricks or stones on the barbeque and heat the 'bator that way? What I'm trying to say is DON"T GIVE UP! Be creative, there is still hope.

I remember seeing a thread here a few months ago. I can't remember exactly what happened, but a member's incubator got turned off for about 24 hours and the chicks were fine. So there's hope!

I say don't give up yet, too. Are you here on the east coast? It's hot and humid outside, maybe you could stick the incubator out there until the power comes back?

Having the same worries here. We started incubating two days ago. We were only on day two and then the power went out in Va. Was out for like 12 hrs and the temp got down to like 74 and humidity was round 80. So this morning they said it could be several days to regain power. So we took the bator to my grandfathers house and plugged it in. Do you all think that on day two they will survive? Should we continue to incubate?

well its been a little over 24 hours the temp in the bator was at 70 I have been stuck at work the whole time (I am an EMT on a 24 hour Shift) I finially had time to run to the house and pick it up I brought it to work where we have power I hope they still hatch
