PPBA Show in Stockton, CA in January?

Hey Guys! Sorry we missed the meet up, I started feeling really sick around 11, so we went home (Not sure if it was a Pregnant and didn't sleep well thing, or something I ate.). I did get to see Kristen though! I had a blast, so many BEAUTIFUL birds! DH and I were not planning to spend anything, just look.... But we all know how that goes, came home $199.50 lighter, lol.

We were checking out the Sales barn and I turned around for a second, and when I turned back DH had an Emu egg in his hand that he had bought

Then the lady selling them said they are happier in pairs, so I bought myself one too. Then the second time we checked out the Sales barn they had just brought out some GQF Cabinet incubators, and we were first to grab one, so that came home too. They were set up for Emu eggs, so the Nice lady selling them threw in Another emu egg for the baby

. Then DH saw a sign for BCM pairs for $35 but when he inquired, they were already gone, but the lady brought out 5 eggs she had hidden, so those came home with us too. Then in the Show Barn we bought some Chicken egg racks for the Cabinet Incubator. Oh and I bought a raffle ticket for the Save the Rooster quilt, so there is another $5. Bill really wanted some adult birds, but we haven't rebuilt a coop since moving, and are just getting started rebuilding our flock with chicks. SO we have about 2 months to get a coop done. DH begged me to shell out another $150 for the beautiful Toulouse Goose, but I put my foot down

.

It's funny, DH was griping about having to go, but he was the one spending all the money, and I think he actually had more fun than me.

I looked for the meetup but never found it. I did happen to meet Abby by chance, and she is very nice. We were at the Marans egg judging booth when we met, and I bought tickets. I figured that I wouldn't win anyway. So I got home and was installing my beauties in their new home when I got a phone call. I did win the Marans eggs! But I really didn't feel like another two hours of driving, so I let them go to the next person. It was pretty cool to almost-win though.

But look at what I got for my son to show in 4H this year:

Aren't they handsome? Very friendly too. I also came home with one of the big green cages from JS West (and cool, I didn't know they carried that sort of thing and they're fairly local to me), some dust, and some legbands. It was a good trip considering I almost didn't get to go.

My kids and I had a fun time looking at all the different birds today. It's the first show we've been to and were very impressed. Been reading about the various breeds but getting to see them..... WOW. Some of those Minorcas (?) looked big enough for my dog to ride.

We managed to keep our money in our pockets but I may need to get a couple Marans to add to my microflock (4) because those eggs were gorgeous.

The only downer was learning that chicken people can sometimes be parking-challenged.

That's a beautiful quilt.

That law is nuts!

I also got an AM egg from the dad of one of the Jrs and when Denny and I went back the hen had won 1st BV! So I have a Golden Quail AM that I pray hatches. Then Denny and I found a breeders with sooo many colors of AMs and lots of 1st's so I think we'll talking to her again soon.

I was dying over all the smashed and broken eggs and all the one's left behind when people would by hens and pullets and the roos were bouncing them all over the place.

I came home with lots of eggs, but no birds. I was thinking of going back in the morning to at least pick up a pair of something, but remembered I have to take my car in in the morning and it;s an all day job, so I actually got off cheap. LOL I did try to buy a pair of Partridge Silkies, but no one answered the phone to the number and buy the time I got someone at the table to go back and help me, the owners were there selling the hen. The guy says, "Well you can still get the roo." I have one silkie hen right now and 3 roos, so I don't think that would have been a good buy.

Makayla fell in love with some little Modern Games. I don't know, I could get used to them, but she thought they were so cool. So I have some forms to go through since we found out the minimum age to show is 5. All I heard all the way home was about going back and buying a pair so she could show them. $175? For prehistoric raptors? For a 5 year old? If Bill had been there, she would have had them, but grandma is toooo poor now, so maybe something I hatch from here. Maybe my AMs??? Maybe.

Denny brought me LOTS of CM eggs to hatch and now I have 48 eggs that are non-shipped!!! I can either check to see if I can get a better hatch out or Karen (sowngrow) said she can hatch them out for me/ I think maybe I'll be seeing Karen! LOL BTW her grand daughter Olivia and my grand daughter had a good time. Took them to the sale barn with me and they're pointing out "cute chickens", all roos! LOL

I almost didn't go this morning. I had plenty of time to get there by 7, but had to talk myself into being out and I did it and had a great time.

Maybe next year more of you can go. I hope.

Oh and whenever I had people asking me questions about birds I'd help with what I could and then tell them to come visit us here. I did my BYC promotions. hehe

I have a lot to do in February and hadn't planned on it, but if money isn't too tight I think I might go to Fresno!
