PPBA Show in Stockton, CA in January?

That's a beautiful quilt.

That law is nuts!

I also got an AM egg from the dad of one of the Jrs and when Denny and I went back the hen had won 1st BV! So I have a Golden Quail AM that I pray hatches. Then Denny and I found a breeders with sooo many colors of AMs and lots of 1st's so I think we'll talking to her again soon.

I was dying over all the smashed and broken eggs and all the one's left behind when people would by hens and pullets and the roos were bouncing them all over the place.

I came home with lots of eggs, but no birds. I was thinking of going back in the morning to at least pick up a pair of something, but remembered I have to take my car in in the morning and it;s an all day job, so I actually got off cheap. LOL I did try to buy a pair of Partridge Silkies, but no one answered the phone to the number and buy the time I got someone at the table to go back and help me, the owners were there selling the hen. The guy says, "Well you can still get the roo." I have one silkie hen right now and 3 roos, so I don't think that would have been a good buy.

Makayla fell in love with some little Modern Games. I don't know, I could get used to them, but she thought they were so cool. So I have some forms to go through since we found out the minimum age to show is 5. All I heard all the way home was about going back and buying a pair so she could show them. $175? For prehistoric raptors? For a 5 year old? If Bill had been there, she would have had them, but grandma is toooo poor now, so maybe something I hatch from here. Maybe my AMs??? Maybe.

Denny brought me LOTS of CM eggs to hatch and now I have 48 eggs that are non-shipped!!! I can either check to see if I can get a better hatch out or Karen (sowngrow) said she can hatch them out for me/ I think maybe I'll be seeing Karen! LOL BTW her grand daughter Olivia and my grand daughter had a good time. Took them to the sale barn with me and they're pointing out "cute chickens", all roos! LOL

I almost didn't go this morning. I had plenty of time to get there by 7, but had to talk myself into being out and I did it and had a great time.

Maybe next year more of you can go. I hope.

Oh and whenever I had people asking me questions about birds I'd help with what I could and then tell them to come visit us here. I did my BYC promotions. hehe

I have a lot to do in February and hadn't planned on it, but if money isn't too tight I think I might go to Fresno!

Uh Oh... What is in Fresno?

The next show.............on the 19th

Wolftracks, that is too funny! If your incubator is full, I'm doing staggered hatches right now and can probably squeeze a dozen in. I think the turkey eggs I have in there aren't fertile anyway, so that will free up some space. My husband works in So. Modesto so transferring eggs or chicks isn't too much of a hardship.

I really had a hard time not buying any bantams. I loved the little Wyandottes in the show, but it's a good thing I didn't see any for sale. I have a chicken-eating dog and they would fit through the fence. Banties will have to wait until he croaks.

I think the Fresno show is on the 19th, but I'm not sure.

I am anxious to find out if any of our BYC'ers place tomorrow. That would be exciting! How is Cheryl doing? Has she ruptured a blood vessel yet? I hope the three days of cage training pays off and her birds don't embarrass her.

Have fun!

I only saw her for a few minutes and I don't think she was a happy camper. They were beautiful birds though.

OH and I'm going to have to take a drive and meet you for eggs. I' think I'm done with shipping eggs around here. None of my Icelandics developed and I'm so sad. They are so pretty and I'd love to at least have a few. I need more space for everything I want.

I'm seriously going to try to save a little money here and there and buy some land on ebay. I need more chicken space and I need to get out of this area and find something cheap I can own. I swear I'd live in an RV if I had my own space and lots of room for more chickens. There's other things I'd like too and since it will just be me in the next couple of years I'm really thinking about it. All I need is a couple of acres in the boonies surrounded by chickens and animals and I'm good.

Someone on here bought a trio of minorcas. Even if there were some for show, getting the name/number/contact info of someone who breeds them or has hatching eggs would be great. I would even order eggs online if I could find them! I can find hatchery chicks, but I want to hatch out my own! I would even be cool with hatchery eggs, if I could just FIND some!

I saw a minorca rooster and hen pair last year at the state fair and fell instantly in love with the breed. Now that we have an incubator, I'm trying to get my hands on fertile minorca eggs, if not for the next hatch then DEFINITELY for the one after (Easter hatch).

Have you gone on the California Chickens Yahoo group and ask about Minorca's? I have seen them at both the Ventura and Bakersfield show. At the bakersfield show there was even a LF pair in the breeders raffle. there are alot of people in that group that will help you network finding what you want. That is how I found the brids I bought today. I got a trio of Buff laced bantam Polish from great lines and was able to set it up with the person befroe the show. Which was lucky becuase they were all pretty much sold by the time I got the sale barn. They are really nice too. It was dark when we got home so I don't have a picture. there is a Sounthern Ca Chickens Yahoo group too.

They had some in the raffle!

I was so disappointed none of us won any of the birds.

I was really kind of hoping for those or the Sultans.

If I was able to go back tomorrow I would hunt some down for you.

Wish I had known before I left.

Woohoo, Chickee and I had a blast at the show! It was great seeing those of you we saw, it's always fun to catch up with everyone, even when I'm so distracted by beautiful birds everywhere that I can hardly hold a conversation.

My "max" was supposed to be four chickens and four ducks, but instead I came home with:
- 1 serama rooster in the craziest beautiful cocoapop-type color
- 1 TINY serama cockerel
- 1 TINY serama pullet
- 4 serama hens
- 2 black east indies ducks
- 3 call ducks (was going to be two but the seller wouldn't let the drake I wanted go without me buying a black bibbed hen, too, in addition to my blue fawn hen--but at a discount)

I surpassed my max, but that said I'm REALLY happy with the birds I got so I'm not complaining. Now to rearrange until everyone fits just right.

Kelsey, too bad you felt sick! I'm glad I at least found you and Bill and talked to you briefly while you were there. I was going to give you six free serama eggs but then I couldn't find you because you left early. Oh well, let me know if you want some at any point--I think I'm up to twenty seramas now, sixteen of which are hens, so I should have good amounts of eggs coming in soon.

I would post more but I am super tired from getting up so early this morning and staying up late with Chickee the night before talking our heads off about poultry. Time to go get a lot of sleep!

I am exhausted too...went to bed last night at 2 am got up at 7:30 woke my bitty kids up ( 1 and 3) got them dressed headed out from palo alto called cheryl dropped some chicks off to one person then got my buff laced polish hen THANKS cheryl and wandered around...was so space cased i didn't even get too look at the Large Frames past the giant cochins....*cries* wen to the sale barn bought a girl friend for my evil silkie rooster and headed to bass pro shops walked around there for 2 hours and headed back home.
