Ya know, I saw those eggs and as frustrated as my Bill got over me and my zoo, I could almost see him buying one and saying "here, hatch this!" LOL

It was so funny to see that you're Bill was the one to buy first.

Oh and you're too cheap.... at least 6 hacthing eggs.

I'll make you a saddle for your 2 legged pony.

I also have a local guy who sells Emu eggs for $10, but didn't have the incubator space, but it definately crossed my mind to pick up a few from him since I now have the Cabinet bator that is set up for emus, that will be going anyway

Bill was that way.

He bought me incubators and had me order eggs and was really gung ho on the Egg Train. He was excited that I would want to leave the house. Makes it easier when it's for chickens abd I don't know why. When he died I just didn't have the energy to work with it at that moment, so lately I've been trying to get it going better. It works it's just not the huge major help we were dreaming about and I now it's time to get that going if only a little at a tiome, but trust me, a couple of years and no one will ever want to send eggs through the PO.

Wish I had space for an Emu. I guess if I had to hide it I could stand it in a corner with a lamp shade on it's head.

Even though your time with Bill was cut short, you were a Lucky woman to have such a Wonderful husband. Continue with all of your Poultry dreams, I know it made him happy to see you soo happy. Just like My Bill, he puts up with it because it makes him happy to see me happy.

Oh - btw - Cheryl told me the most awesome trick yesterday for the poopdeck. Cover it in newspaper. Duh! That way, every couple days, just roll up the newspaper and toss it in the compost. No more scraping!

I had a great time yesterday meeting new folks I've seen on here and catching up with a few from here that I had the pleasure of meeting last year. It's always fun to put a face to people's stories. I managed to escape without any new birds to add to the zoo, but did come away with a renewed sense of community. Thanks to all for that!! I also had a much better idea of what I wanted to check out in the show pens since last year was just a little over-whelming

I was wondering if anyone of you who show also keep waterfowl? We stopped at the NPIP table for information and it appears not only will getting our birds certified be more expensive than I had imagined, but that it may be impossible (okay, nearly impossible) to do that since we live on the edge of a migratory flyway as well as keep waterfowl. I will start a new thread asking everyone when I get a chance, but thought I would pose the question to you folks here. If nothing else, the gal at the NPIP table told us the chickens would need to be separated from the ducks and geese to pass inspection. We're a small farm with just about everything except cattle and the birds are all turned loose in the barnyard to mow, catch bugs, harass the dogs and each other, and then they get locked up safe at dusk. That is truly part of the charm of living where and how we do for me! No matter where you look or what corner you turn, there is always something new to look at and another parade to enjoy. It's hard for me to imagine all of the chickens and turkeys removed from everyone else. Any info or suggestions would be helpful.

Congrats to all who showed and won yesterday as well as all of you who were lucky enough to go home with birds and eggs!! BYC is a pretty amazing group of people that I am happy to be a part of...
