Just preordered 2 prairie bluebell and 2 starlight green egger pullets to be available on March 27. What can I expect from these breeds? Have a small flock of 3 Easter eggers and 2 Sapphire Gems. Thinking about building the new chicks a separate coop when they’re old enough to leave the brooder while attaching the runs with a door that I can open when they get more comfortable. I’ve read that the bluebell and starlight are smaller birds, should I have any concerns about potentially linking the runs for interaction?

According to your date you should have your chicks or they should at least be on the way. I hate no one responded earlier. You had some decisions to make on your own but I think it’s a solid plan and that’s exactly what I’m planning to do, which is what led me to this post. Good luck with the new birds!

My mistake was trying to rush the process. I learned put the two groups were they can see each other and not get to each other. Take the time two week, three weeks a month no rush. The last group I merged were smaller true blues with established heritage breeds. They all live together now. Your plan is solid.
