Prairie Flower Block Swap

Well, I tried to see if it was anywhere in the UK about a baby but there is nothing. However, I did find a US publication that said the Duchess of Cambridge ( Kate ) was pregnant again and that was within four months of when she had her last baby. According to my reckoning she should have pretty well had that baby by now. And since William and Kate have just been on Royal duty visits abroad then that was very brave of her! Then again, the US press were accusing William of abandoning Kate if he went to the Invictus Games. Poor lad can't win! Have you watched any of the Invictus Games? They have been brilliant again. We also had a programme yesterday showing how the Invictus Choir came together and wrote that fantastic song they sang at the opening ceremony.

I didn't see that about William abandoning Kate. Too bad she's not expecting twins, course the tabloid said there had not been royal twins in 700 years, don't know if that is even true. I have not watched any of the games. I am working hard on a quilt that I really need to at least have the top done by the 22nd,
Long Arm news. My insurance will pay replacement value, but now trying to figure out if it is in the best interest to fix the old one or get a new one. It is still being determined how much damage was done, but I'm looking at this machine now. I did get to play on it when I was at the store taking a class, who knew. Oh and I'd get the handle bars on the back, so it will be smaller than the one I have but I liked it, just means I'd have to move a large quilt more often. Anyone have this one or know anyone who does?

Sounds like either way you get a good deal, what with the insurance paying for it. Now decisions, decisions!

I have a few questions on the quilt block. Just looking at the white charm pack I bought. It only has 38- 5" blocks. I need 320 triangles for all 20 blocks. My question is, If I cut the 4 - 2 1/2" squares, and then instead of pressing them in half, can I cut them into 2 usable triangles instead of wasting one half of the triangle by cutting it off? As I think of it in my head, it isn't big enough to accommodate the 2- 1/4" seam allowances for each triangle. Is that right? Also, all of the whites in the charm pack are tone on tone and don't have the same print. Will that matter if they are different on one block? I don't think it would be that noticeable, but wanted to check with everyone to see what you all would prefer. I'm still going to have to go buy another yard of white, as I'm only going to be able to make 152 triangles with the charm pack, if I only can get 4 from each square.
Believe it or not, it is going to be 53 degrees here to day!!!

Frost crazy, we are going to be cool tonight and the wind has started to pick up, block question. I think the triangle will be short, cause you have to allow for the 1/4 all around but try it, the brain is not fully functioning right now,

Please someone else chime in

as far as the white on white, I don't think it will be noticeable, so I wouldn't worry about that, remember this is a 13.5 inch block, so when sewn it will be 13 inches. This block is bigger than we usually make.

After I thought it through, I think the block would have to be 3" to accommodate the two usable triangles. I cut most of the 21/2 squares out today. I will go get the other white on Monday. My green came today, so I'm getting there!!

Ok Ladies:

I know most of us have not completed the current blocks, but it is time to think about the next swap. I have two suggestions. I have chosen these blocks due to the different skill levels so all can join in on the fun.

1) A nine-Patch Weave 13.5 x 13.5 blocks you would make 12 Skill level: Beginner I have the pattern that I would post but here is a pic of the block

Sorry the pic isn't better, but it is shown in blues and browns, you would make 6 of dark grid and 6 of light grid I would get better pics.

Next block: Windowpanes 12.5 x 12.5 you would make 12 Skill Level: Confident Beginner

It shows 20 blocks but that is if you want to make a quilt size 66" x 78.5"

We can use the suggested colors or change the colors, and we need to decide when they will be due.
