Do not put her back out tonight. If you are able, let her stay in for a couple days. If you can see that she is not herself, your other chickens know she is feeling poorly and often times they will start picking on the sick one. This way you can monitor her drinking, eating, potty, and activity. If she starts feeling a bit perky, put down a sheet and let her walk around.
thanks. yeah i am gonna keep her in the house. especially tonight... i just want her to be up moving about more. shes sleeping alot.
i put some hay in the corner of the cage. so incase she needs it.. make her feel at home. my house bun was laying right in front of the cage. very cute.
hes such a good bun. hes 6 years old this year!! always been a great bunny. and hes so interested in this hen!
anyways, thanks for the responses, i was getting to think,, people were ignoring me.
thanks again.
andrea
p.s. we are supposed to have alot of snow here in ct. this is not a good thing!! ugh!
Again Annie, in order for anyone to really help, you need to answer the questions posed in the beginning of the emergencies section, and as noted earlier, that is the best place to post this situation. This hen is quite ill and for sick chickens time is often of the essence. If a visit to an avian vet is possible, I would do so imminently. There likely isn't time for a lot of trial and error here. Do administer 3 drops liquid childrens Polyvisol Enfamil daily (with no added iron) via a dropper that you drip very gently along her beak line, so she gets some minimal nutrition at least. The stuff tastes like crap from what I can tell so offer a cut up blueberry or something else with considerable nice flavor afterward as a treat.

p.s. As others have said, she is in no shape to be back out in an area that requires energy to stay warm so it is good that you have her inside. If, however, you sense she is very depressed and she has a best buddy I would consider having that buddy keep her company. Others may disagree, but if she has been exposed to a contagious illness while out in the coop, so have the others in all likelihood. She probably has something wrong that is unique to her. Sometimes having a friend helps give the strength needed to hang on till a problem is sorted out.
but shes pooped twice and poops a bit runny. i tried taking a photo but stupid me and stupid camera.
so anyways, i noticed her tail is up !! yeah thats much better.
and currently she is sitting with me in the living room . i placed a vinyl tableclothe on the floor and put water in front of her,,, she stood up and just about dunked her head in..
i made toast for me and her .. crumbled some up for her.. shes pecking at it.
i made scrambled eggs and she ate only a bit.
shes wants to walk around thats why i wanted her out of the cage.. kinda tight. good but not for a chicken with a large run and who usually is free ranging.
i want to bring her outside with the others so bad.. but its too soon.
as i watch her.. shes not crying.
she has not laid an egg.. i only got 3 yesterday of my flock of 5
i usually average 5 a day.
umm trying to think of something else.
shes sleepy, but thats why i wanted her to be in the living room with me and my 2 crazy toddlers. who absultly love our chickens.
our dog sammie, is not bothered by her at all.
he is used to the (girls)
we have our house bun oreo, who was laying in front of her cage all night. i left some paper on the floor, and oreo went to town chewing it all up.. i figured that would give ms hen some company.
i awoke around 230am to check on her.. i am happy to see her tail up tho.
i cleaned out the coop this morning.. removed all the wood chips.. so just incase theres in issue, i dont want to get the other chickens sick.
its snowing here.. not alot.. like the weatherman expected.
thats good, i have enough to deal with.
plus my birthday is this friday i am turing 36... and happy with the way my life has turned out.. i just want my pets to be well. i pray shell make it to my bday.. but if her time is near.. then god must take her.. i know i provided her with a wonderful life.
okay now my kids are wondering why i am crying...(must be that time of the month lol)
thanks everyone here on byc for your advice.
its hard when your the only chicken person you know.. and well the internet is here (happy smile)
bye for now!!!
