well, the baby chick passed away yesterday morning... I had taped it's legs as I found out on an emergency thread I looked up and made boots... I was feeding it with an eye dropper and it was sooooooo hungry and undernourished and the legs had sores and were somewhat calcified so I had extreme doubts it could be rectified but I tried and gave it my all. It peeped all through the night so I would get up and feed it...it reminded me of when I had my human babies and how demanding they are...feed me, feed me...
Oh well, so Murray the class chick is burried next to Lucky the other class chick.
My eggs are due to hatch about May 11...my birthday... we are really excited...of the ones we could candle....since some are ee's and some are black copper marans that I can't see through....there is growth and eeeeeeek!!!!!! I'm excited.
I don't know... but I threw in 4 of our duck eggs... I realize those take longer but I need to stop the incubator from turning the eggs this friday. Anyone who reads this have any advice about my mix hatch...feel free to speak up. Thanks.
Had to go to the pound today to pick up a spay voucher for one of dacjohns kitty's we have that is old enough now to have her "girl" surgery and of course looked around. Lots of cats and kittens...a one month old siamese...not usually partial to siamese but sure was cute....ooooh and one ferret...only 20 duckets but i'd want a pair if i were to get them again...they need a buddy.... sure miss the ones i had....so amusing....but i held this young one and it bit my chin and played with me and I smelled it's stinky musky smell.... i must be weird...but i like it.
there were lots of pitbulls.... don't want one.
There was an alaskan juvy---the white with redish kind of markings and blue eyes but an old lady was looking at her. There was a black shepard....1 yrs or 2, I forget...she was a good looking dog and friendly but 2 guys were looking at her. There was a beagle mix...one yrs...she was a sweety but wasn't really thinking I'd get a beagle mix...any one know how they do with poultry, cats...and don't they howl a lot? Gonna keep my eyes open though, sure would like to get a youngen to wrestle with my other dog...it's been a couple of years since he's been able to out and out play...he'd throw his weight into my old girl and knock her down--he wanted so badly to play like they used to....he needs a play mate now that Hailey is gone. He was all about sniffing my pants when I came home.
Mom still feels sore and bad.... can't talk any sense into her.
Me and the girls have a virus and went to the dr. on tues. and I am soooo feeling like blah. Zoe had a spider bite that swelled her lymph nodes up in her neck so she got an antibiotic and both girls got inhalers and i got nothing and he told me to ride it out. waaa!
That's right... imma a whinin!
oh and funny thing... had to stop by farm and fleet yesterday and baby chicks had come in for those who ordered and they were removing one chick who just didn't look like it was going to make it...it's eyes were closed and it just didn't have any pep and vigor to it. I had to hold my tongue from saying I'd take it. I've had enough dead chickies on my hands and I'm going to be hatching out next week and shouldn't bring sickies around. I'm done. I put that one in God's hands.
and yes, Julie.... I need to take care of myself. Thanks for the reminder.
On that note, I'm treating me and the girls to an icecream.
See ya all soon and thanks so much for the continued encouragment!! I love my chicken friends.
it's me,
g
