she got tangled in bob wire (her back leg) I dont know how long she was there before I found her but she is cut to the bone and we had to cut the wire off her leg... we may have to put her down.... I have had her 16 years... my heart is breaking right now.... please pray for her. thank you..

Update> we thought scarlet was doing better. her would was doing awesome... looked really good... she ate her feed and everything. we were so happy with her progress... now she is no longer with me... my heart is shattered in a million pieces. she was not just a horse to me. we have been thru alot together. I lost a true friend...

Run free my friend.. Thank you for being there. I love you always!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have seen some remarkable recoveries with cut injuries to horses legs.
Best of luck to her.

Oh, no! Barbed wire is the worst!

Praying for your mare, and you, too.

Barbed Wire is bad stuff around horses. Get some banamine in her and call the vet. She may be able to recover so, don't think the worst just yet.

My old mare got hung up in barbed wire when she was 3 yrs old - also cut to the bone. It took several months of home doctoring and TLC but she recovered competely and she was a sound horse for years. She has just been retired at age 28 this year. My prayers are with you.

I think she was tangled all day. we have a call int the ver. my dad had a horse do this and he blew a hoof and had to be put to sleep. its my donkeys fault I am sure. he doesnt leave her alone and she is always kicking him. I am 99 % sure he caused this because she usually stays away from barb wire she jumped a fence and flipped over it breaking 5 wood post several years back and so now she is afraid of the fences.

the donkey is gone as soon as I can give him away

as said above, dont think the worst just yet, it may take time but she could recover 100%. Not to defend the donkey but horses some times do dumb things they never did before. I had to help a lady up the road, her horse jump the barb wire fence she was standing in the road with it wrapped around her legs, it was to the bone. I ran home got some wire cutters. The owner held her and her son and i had to cut the wire, I thought for sure someone was going to get kicked, it was twisted so tight, There mare knew she was in trouble and never gave a kick. Vets around here a far and few between... She cleaned it out, put lots of triple cream on it, put the flap back over and wrapped & changed it every other day or so, I dont know for how long, it was a few weeks at least. I would see the mare with blue wrap one day then pink wrap. She healed fine & her owner does not know what made her do it.

Prayers all works out for the best

All hope is not lost. I had a mare get caught in hi-tensel hot wire and she did recover. BTW, she was 6 months pregnant at the time. She was also blind from Lepto. Bourby went on to foal out a future champion in the RMHA even with all the Rx's she was on. We had to doctor her everyday for 8 months. It was down to the bone on her left hind and was 5-7 inches of exposed bone, scraped clean. It is a ton of work everyday, but to me so worth it. My girl went on to foal many more fantastic foals.
