I'm so sorry to hear about this! That has to be an extremely difficult situation for the two of you. Are they going to do another colostomy (ileostomy, etc.) on him?

Through all of this, I have not cried. I really have not taken time to sit down and dwell on all the bad things right now.

But, sitting here reading all of the kind responses and all of the prayers out there for Mike, tears are streaming down my face.

Update :

His blood tests show that he is responding to the blood thinners really well. He still has the blood clots and probably will for several months, until the completely dissolve.

Tonight they are taking him off the IV heparin. If his blood tests are still showing improvement tomorrow, they are going to discuss sending him home on a trial run. He will still have to go to the lab at the hospital and have blood drawn 3 times a week. Thank God he only lives 2 blocks from the hospital ! He also has to keep gaining weight. I forgot to tell you that he had lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks. (He WOULD NOT go to the dr. even though I begged him to.)

At this time they are not 'planning' an ileostomy. But, the possibility is still there, particularly if any of the intestinal clots show signs of moving.

He has promised the Drs that he will go back to walking for exercise. He has told me that after walking for a while, he wants to start bike riding with me. I wish he could have a dog at his apartment, he would walk her several times a day. That would be good for Mike and Sugar. Sugar is Mike's but she lives with me because he can not have a pet in his apartment !

I want to thank you guys for the out pour of prayers, thoughts and well wishes. I am taking care of myself, best I can. I did have to go get a sleep aid from my Dr. I will pick it up on the way to the hospital tonight. I am spending the night there, by the way, I sleep better knowing I am in the same room with Mike.
