Hey fancy feather fanciers,

I recently acquired some Mottled Houdans who have reached 6 weeks of age. I should have known that I was in trouble when I heard the tiny, shrill crow coming from their brooder when they were 3 weeks old, but I'm not terribly familiar with the breed so I thought I was mistaken. I now have all my grow out birds outside, and I am now certain two of them are crowing, and I have noticed multiple do the snatch and ungainly attempt to get up on another bird's back, willing or not (who am I kidding, these birds are 6 weeks, none are willing, they all screech and run, dragging their clinger on with them). What I'm wondering is are my cockerels just precocious, or is this normal for this breed? I've never had any chicken do these things this young.

I wish my cockrerel would be this way for I have a big Han and a big duck so my boy is so overwhelmed at 10 weeks. Plus I have spoiled him rotten so he is only comfortable lying down, next to or on top of me .. trying to cuddle . Lol . When your chicks start laying eggs we can swap
