Anyone ever use a 2-3' predator apron around coop instead of burying wire? We have to put up a new enclosed run and ground is frozen - saw a youtube video of the apron installation.

I have an 18" apron of hardware cloth laid out around my runs. It's tacked down with landscaping fabric and the grass grows through to where you can't even see it. Can also mow right over it.

I've got a 20" HW cloth apron around my coop and run. No issues at all.

That is awesome news!! I got some metal fencing that has green coating on it - goal is to have it blend

I have electric wire around my coops and pens. There are some places where I dug a trench a foot deep and attached some welded wire to the bottom of the fence and put it down in the trench and buried it. I have had a few attempts to dig under the fence but when the predator touches the electric wire it immediately aborts the attempt.

Good examples of anti-dig apron installation.
If rodents are prolific, burying the apron ~12" would be good.
