Predator Identification from Bite Mark

Is this possibly talon marks? Like from a hawk.

It’s possible. Birds of prey have been our biggest predator problem to date. We have never had a bird survive a hawk attack yet though so that threw me off The bird of prey trail but definitely possible.

I've seen my chickens get dive bombed from hawk, I live in Ohio. Now you said you live in Canada, you probably have the same predators we have here in Ohio. Red tail, osprey, maybe some eagles, and a handful of falcon, racoons, coyote, opossum, and you prob have wolves too. Id guess it was something from the sky. If that was my bird. My rooster is pretty good at fighting the hawks off. Are drakes pretty protective of their flock like roosters are? (A drake is the males right? I'm not a duck person) Its the coyote and racoons that we have the biggest problems from. I've notice the hawks aim for the head and neck, probably because that would be the quickest/easiest kill point for them. My RIR hen got attacked at 4pm in my back yard 20 yards from my house. She was bit on her leg, and had large gash on her butt. I suspect a coyote, as wide as the bite mark was. She survived thankfully.

Thanks! Yes I’d guess our predators would be the same as yours in Ohio. Falcons and Hawks are a big problem here for chickens and ducks.
Drakes (yes that’s the male duck) are very protective, every bit as much as a rooster. Ours has driven away predators before so I believe he probably saved this girl.
